Alison Alfredson has been drawing and painting since she was little. She grew up in East Lansing, Michigan and after high school graduation she set off for The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Alison completed her Associate Degree in Visual Communications. She also held a graphic design internship with Foote Cone & Belding agency in Center City Philadelphia. A year after college graduation Alison returned to Lansing and studied art history, figure drawing and painting at Lansing Community College before heading back to the east coast to study at Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine. She completed her B.F.A. in Painting in 1998. After her college career Alison taught life drawing and basic drawing courses for Continuing Education programs and instructed private students.
Over the last 20 years Alison has displayed her work around Michigan in both group and solo exhibitions, as well as in Philadelphia, Portland, ME and Brooklyn, NY. Some of her most recent works have been selected in juried exhibitions in Louisville, KY, Kelispell, MT, and Naperville, IL She has also painted 15 murals for businesses and private residences, created artwork for multiple CD covers, wedding invitations, and an award winning poster design.
Her most recent work is in acrylic and she chooses wood, canvas and watercolor paper as her surfaces.
Alison lives in Lansing with her husband and three daughters.
